Additions

Room additions in Spokane Valley, WA

Bedroom, home office, family room and playroom additions, and kitchen extensions, framed and finished by the same owner-led crew.

Chapter 01

An addition fails at the doorway long before it fails at the wall

Most homeowners start an addition by asking how big the new room should be. The better first question is how it joins the house. A bedroom that opens off a hallway at the wrong spot, a floor that steps up at the threshold, or an office whose outlets all land on the window wall will each feel like an add-on for as long as you live with it, however good the new framing is.

The decisions that matter are quiet ones. Where does the door land, and what does it open onto? Does the new floor run on from the old one or stop at a strip of trim? Where will the bed, the desk or the sofa really sit, and are the lights and outlets planned around that, or just spaced evenly? These choices are cheap to settle on paper and expensive to correct once the drywall is up.

That is why a Recommended Remodeling addition starts with a thorough consultation in your house, standing in the rooms next to the new one, and a detailed plan before any work begins. We customize the scope to fit your budget and your vision, and prices come after that conversation, not before it.

Recommended Remodeling builds bedroom additions, home office additions, kitchen extensions and family room additions, plus playrooms and other rooms the family needs, as the company puts it: bedroom, office, playroom additions, and more. The framing, drywall, electrical updates and flooring are handled by our own certified, experienced team, so the person finishing the floor has seen how the wall behind it was built.

Chad Peetz, the owner, is personally on site for every project in Spokane Valley and the surrounding towns. He is the person who walks the plan with you, and the person who walks the finished room with you at handoff. If a kitchen extension needs new plumbing, we can sub-contract all plumbing jobs, so the plumber is arranged through us and the work stays on one schedule and one plan.

If your project is mostly structure, the page on framing covers custom home framing and framing for room additions in more detail. If it is mostly the floor, flooring installation and repair covers hardwood, tile, vinyl and carpet.

Chapter 03

How to tell it is time, and what the handoff looks like

The signs are usually plain. Two children still sharing a bedroom. A kitchen table that has become a full-time desk. A family room where nobody can sit down without moving something first. When a room is doing three jobs, adding a fourth room is often a calmer fix than moving or rearranging again.

Before you move furniture in, check the details that are easy to miss: doors swing and latch, trim lines are tight, switches do what you expect, and the paint is clean at every edge. Chad is on site for every project, so anything that is not right goes straight to the owner.

To start, call Chad at 509-464-9873 or send a few lines about the room you have in mind. We work across the Spokane Valley and the Spokane area, and every addition begins with the same step: a consultation, then a detailed plan.

Chad Peetz owns Recommended Remodeling and is personally on site for every project, additions included. Call 509-464-9873, Monday to Sunday, 7:00 am to 8:00 pm.

The addition register

Five kinds of new room, and what each one asks of the build.

General craft, not a promise about your house: what a crew keeps in mind when the new room is a bedroom, an office, a kitchen extension, a family room or a playroom.

Addition

Bedroom

Framed walls and a ceiling that meet the existing house cleanly, drywall finished smooth, and outlets and lighting placed where the bed, the dresser and the closet will actually stand. The floor runs through to the doorway so the room does not end in a threshold step.

Addition

Home office

Outlets along the desk wall instead of one per wall, light you can work under, and a door that closes properly. The floor is chosen for a rolling chair and daily foot traffic.

Addition

Kitchen extension

More floor for cabinets, counters and an island, with electrical planned around the appliances. If new plumbing is part of the plan, we sub-contract it through Recommended Remodeling so it stays inside the same job.

Addition

Family room

A wider open room means long drywall runs, lighting you can switch by zone, and flooring that takes the heaviest traffic in the house. The framing has to carry the open span cleanly.

Addition

Playroom

Durable floors, walls that forgive touch-up paint, built-in storage and a layout that still works when the kids are older and the toys are gone.

Every line on this sheet ends the same way: framed, hung, wired and floored by one team. Read more about framing and flooring installation and repair, or call 509-464-9873 to talk through the room you want to add.
